The House on Harrigan's Hill ReviewI liked this story of a hardworking and hard pressed family struggling to get by in northern California during the tumultuous 20th century. Mama and her daughter Mary are both strong likable women. Their families are shaped by the places they lived, in both the small town of Truckee, high in the Sierra Nevada and the city of Sacramento. As a reader I enjoyed seeing Mary grow and mature in a time of interesting historical change. Stories of townspeople, city folk, Indians and suffragettes, wind by and collide with the Edwards family. Having lived in the Sierra Nevada I especially enjoyed the Truckee chapters.The House on Harrigan's Hill OverviewThe House on Harrigan s Hill opens as a memoir of the resilience of an indomitable woman, Mary Edwards, in the wake of a trouble-filled childhood.
