Making Fairies & Fantastical Creatures: How to Weave and Carve in Wool and Chenille ReviewI asked for this book to make things for my Waldorf schooled child or with my Waldorf grade school students if it was simple enough. I think the children over 3rd grade could handle most of the things with help. It is more complicated than I imagined (HAPPILY). I am really tired of making nuthats and the KLUTZ type faries, they are wonderful, but we needed something new! These are not necessarily Waldorf friendly for the purists, but they could certainly be easily adapted to be so! The fairies are terribly adorable. We cannot wait to get started on dragonfly!Making Fairies & Fantastical Creatures: How to Weave and Carve in Wool and Chenille OverviewA craft book containing 30 projects for making 3D woven and sculpted fairy characters. The directions, enhanced by photos of each step of the felting process, are clear enough for a beginner to follow easily. The level of difficulty ranges from simple to complex, depending on the project - this book offers something for everyone.
The sculptures are adorable - perfect for holiday decorating and nature tables. My young daughter loves to play with the sculptures I've created.
I own several of the author's whimsical and beautifully detailed wool sculptures. Her talent shines in this book.
Wool Pets: Making 20 Figures with Wool Roving and a Barbed Needle OverviewAnyone can make cute and cuddly creatures from a handful of fluff and a barbed needle! There are only a few books written on the subject and most of those focus on 'flat' needle felting on a surface. This book is about sculptural needle felting—creating 3-D animals and figures using the felting needle to sculpt wool.
The book shows the techniques and describes how the felting needle works with wool fiber to create felt, while explaining the differences between this art form and other forms of felting. The reader learns how to hold the needle, what sort of materials to use, and why.

There are about 20 complete projects including various birds, bugs, four-legged animals, and people—each one unique and irresistible! Laurie also shows the reader ways to display their felted creations as mobiles, ornaments, or arranged in shadow boxes.
