WikiBooks: C Sharp Programming ReviewShame on me for buying this book. No reviews provided beforehand so I thought, what the heck, perhaps I can learn something from this $3 book but this was not the case. A tall latte would have been a better purchase.... or driving down the street and throwing $3 out the window. I'll never try a Wiki Book again because of this experience.
Here are my points:
Book is very basic for anyone familiar with programming and C#. Very high level overview of technical aspects and is clearly not written to convey valuable programming lessons.
Reads as a sort of mix between a language spec and a very basic tutorial/guide.
I will give credit to the authors for covering all major topic areas.
Pagination is all off. Some letters are on a single line, then some lines are all jammed together and very difficult to read.
Fonts are all goofy and mixed up so this is not an easy thing to read.
Very little to learn --especially if just starting out with programming and C# -- some topics will leave a new programmer lost.
Not updated for most recent releases of C# such as 4.0.
Biggest issue is not with the authors but the marketing of such materials as a 'book'. This was more of a glorified pamphlet.
