Mr. Sharp's work should make us all realize that the fighting going on in schools is a reflection of larger society. In many ways, our children are caught in a whirlwind not of their making, but one owned by their parents, by their elected representatives and by each and every one of us.
As belligerent parents at a little league or soccer game fight, kids will take a back seat to the arguing and hostility in the stands. Parents in those games take sides, and go to extremes, with the kids suffering. Mr. Sharp points out that the same problem is happening in our school systems.
