It's Potty Time-Girls (Time To...) ReviewDeciding how to rate this book is hard for me. My daughter is entering the home stretch of her `potty training week' and this book has become a staple in our household. As far as teaching her the importance of potty training and how `easy' it can be, this worked rather well. It's short, simple and easy to grasp. My daughter has become obsessed with the book, asking me to read it to her every time she sits on the toilet. I think certain aspects of the book helped her realize why she shouldn't want to be wet or dirty ("it's yucky") and that aided in her becoming determined to sit on the potty.
But then there is that dreaded button.
One of the main reasons my daughter loves this book is for that obnoxious button at the bottom of the book that makes a flushing noise. Yes, it is wholly obnoxious. It flushes for what feels like forever while a little girl laughs one of the most painfully annoying laughs I've ever heard. There are two times in the book when the words "flush, flush, flush" are printed and at both times my little angle demands to press the button.
If I didn't have to read this book twenty times a day I'd be okay with it, but after the third time I'm ready to flush this thing down the toilet!
So, if you are looking for a book that will help influence your young one in the direction of the pearly throne, this one will do the trick BUT beware of the dreaded button. It may be rather cute the first time you hear it, but the first will not be the last, and it grows old very, very quickly.
