Cinema 4D, Third Edition: The Artist's Project Sourcebook ReviewThis book is easy to read and goes step by step (literally) to create different projects. The book uses a larger size text to make it easy reading and nearly every step has a photo of what you see on the screen, and the final outcome after you render the scene. As you move on through the book you get into animation and how to create 3D animated characters. This is a fairly simple book, it literally goes step by step to create project after project (which is great for newcomers,it is a sourcebook so it does focus more on projects) so this book is great for newcomers and allows you to use the skills that you acquire to create grander projects.
In the end this book is easy to follow and is well divided, it has numerous screenshots of what you should see throughout the development process, and well written. The DVD includes the source files for the projects as well as bonus chapters and information to get the most from your projects (like outputting to Adobe After Effects to create awesome movies). Also the book came with 3D glasses. For anyone wanting to learn how to use (and more importantly create) in Cinema 4D this is a must!
I wanted to add that the DVD that came with the book worked perfectly for me (I saw others mentioning problems with it). When I inserted it into the computer it was mounted and I was able to watch the QuickTime Movies with no problem, view the information about Cinema 4D 42 Day trial and see the Mac and Windows plugins, view the Austin Webb City Texture Photos, and view the Support files for each chapter (mostly C4D files [source for book examples]), as well as the bonus chapters movies and PDF files; by the way the CInema 4D Basics is a great item to have for newcomers! The DVD is full of great resources, and worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro -- Just FYI.Cinema 4D, Third Edition: The Artist's Project Sourcebook Overview

Plug-in to After Effects: Third Party Plug-in Mastery ReviewThere is a plethora of plug-ins for After Effects and by utilizing these plug-ins, you can accomplish awesome effects using these third party plug-ins.
But before one can use "Plug-Ins to After Effects" by Michele Yamazaki, its important to note that you MUST at least have the following third-party plug-ins:
- Boris Continuum Complete
- GenArts Sapphire and GenArts Monsters
- Noise Industries FxFactory Pro
- Trapcode Suite
- Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite
- Digieffects Delirium
- Re:Vision Effects Effections Bundle
- Tiffen DFx Digital Filter Suite
- CoreMelt Complete
- The Foundry's Plug-Ins
- Adobe Pixel Bender Plug-Ins
Michele Yamazaki touches upon the following in each chapter:
CHAPTER 1 - Introduction to Plug-Ins
CHAPTER 2 - Color Correction and Color Effects (ie. using Boris Continuum complete, Red Giant Magic Bullet, Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse and more).
CHAPTER 3 - Effects (Blur, light effects, brushes, cartoon look, TV inspired effects and more)

CHAPTER 12 - Keying and Compositing Greenscreen Footage (Keyers and Tools, Compositing Tools, Matte Cleaners)
CHAPTER 13 - Tracking, Matchmoving, Motion Stabilization and Rotoscoping (Imagineer mocha AE, Boris Continuum and more)
CHAPTER 14 - Fixing Video Problems (Noise and Grain, Lens Distortion/Barrel Distortion, Rolling Shutter and more).
CHAPTER 15 - Reference and Workflow
CHAPTER 16 - More on Plug-Ins: The FAQ
The DVD included with the book comes with the project files, demo versions of the plug-ins, fonts and more.
JUDGMENT CALL:
"Plug-In to After Effects" is a fantastic how-to book with project files for one to learn how to utilize these third-party plug-ins with great efficacy. But of course, this book is not for everyone as it does require you to own the third party software and these plug-ins are quite expensive. The good news is that the included DVD does have demo versions of the plug-ins but the good thing that I enjoyed about the book is that it does give you an idea of what plug-ins can be utilized to accomplish certain effects.
There are so many plug-ins out there but it helps to read from a professional who is familiar with the plug-ins to give you a good idea of how to use them and in some cases, you can tell which plug-ins Yamazaki tends to favor as they are featured quite often throughout the book.
If you are a person who wonders how certain effects are created and want to learn from one of the best After Effect gurus out there, "Plug-Ins to After Effects" is a wonderful resource and reference worth buying!
Highly recommended!Plug-in to After Effects: Third Party Plug-in Mastery Overview

Miss Bianca: a Fantasy ReviewI read this book in one afternoon as a child of 9. I could not put it down. My Mom was having a party and I was reading this book in the midst. I'l never forget the characters or the sadness that came when the book was finished. I have read it to my kids (6 and 8) four times and they are asking to hear it again. It's so exciting, with a little danger, a little humor and a lot of love.Miss Bianca: a Fantasy Overview
