Star Trek: Year Four (Star Trek (IDW)) ReviewThis is a great book. It really has the characterizations down pat. From McCoy saying "He's dead Jim" many times to the banter between Kirk, Spock and Bones, these stories have the feel of left-over scripts from the original series. The art is somewhat cartoony at times but it works. There is one instant classic panel which shows Kirk in his melodramatic pose of being in pain from an unseen force that will incite instant laughter from any fan of the show. The word balloons even have the emphasis on certain words in Kirk's dialogue to incorporate the immortal melodramatic cadence of William Shatner. Buy this book now, you'll love it. 5 stars.Star Trek: Year Four (Star Trek (IDW)) Overview

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Fool's Gold (Star Trek (IDW)) ReviewWhile Deep Space Nine has continued in novels since it ended, graphic novels have been another story. There haven't been any since 2001's N-Vector and the TNG crossover Divided We Fall. When IDW received the Star Trek comic license, things began to change. It was consistently the most requested series and IDW soon bought the license to publish DS9.
Fool's Gold is set between the third and fourth seasons (so no Worf), which gives it a decent (and fairly simple) continuity to follow, with the threat of Changeling infiltration being the only ongoing arc mentioned. The writers get the personalities of the characters spot on. The depictions of the characters range from excellent to average; Quark is excellent, yet Odo usually ends up looking odd. I look forward to the next DS9 series.Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Fool's Gold (Star Trek (IDW)) OverviewCaptain Sisko and the crew of Deep Space Nine make their triumphant return to comics! When the station begins to be overrun by thieves, treasure-seekers, bounty-hunters, and other assorted ne'er-do-wells, Major Kira and Constable Odo must find out why. Can they get to the bottom of it before the station's new visitors bring things to a boiling point?!
