Parker's Justice ReviewThis is a very good book, especially by an author new to me. The author's style shows he has a genuine concern for his characters both good and bad. The story moves at a very good pace and will hold your interest till the end. I can't wait to read his next one.
Thank for a great read.Parker's Justice OverviewNathan Parker, Civil War veteran and Sharpshooter struggles to rebuild his shattered life after his young son is killed during Quantrill's raid on Lawrence, Kansas. He wants desperately to find the killer, but without a name, there is no place to start his search. A shadowy figure from his past comes back to haunt him and ultimately sets him on his search for justice. Follow Nathan Parker's quest as it begins on the plains of Kansas and reaches its stunning conclusion in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming Territory. Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story ReviewDead people are meant to stay dead, right? They aren't meant to come back to haunt their killers, although they probably often do, at least under the guise of conscience.
That is what this 'short' is about - a low key, well-grounded short story set in Wales about what happened after the contract killer fulfilled his contract.
You can read it as a literal ghost story or you can read it as an allegory of how a killing plays on a killer's mind, driving him into making mistakes and betraying himself.
Very nicely written. My only reservation is that at around 50 pages in conventional terms, I found it a little too short to mine the full richness of the seam T.S. Sharp has discovered here. I hope he will expand it one day into a full-length novel because there is every scope for him to do so and his writing style and handling of the plot are, well, seamless.Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story OverviewA short story about the grisly work of a hired killer whose work finally catches up with him.Boyd was paid to kill the man and bury his body in a Welsh forest. He'd done it many times before, the job was no different to all the others.Except this time the body won't stay buried. Relentlessly pursued by the ghost of his most recent job, Boyd is forced to question his line of work, until the pressure finally builds to breaking point.~~~~Praise for Unfamiliar Country"Crisp writing and real insight into characterisation, it's all here. The author is a novelist in waiting, that wait will be well worth it." Jake Barton, bestselling author of Burn, Baby, Burn and Blood."If this is a taste of the author's style, then I will look out for any future work he produces. " Declan Conner, author of Survival Instinct (The dark side of dating)."Concise and atmospheric - a real sense of stomach-churning unease..." (Books Monthly)
