Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story ReviewDead people are meant to stay dead, right? They aren't meant to come back to haunt their killers, although they probably often do, at least under the guise of conscience.
That is what this 'short' is about - a low key, well-grounded short story set in Wales about what happened after the contract killer fulfilled his contract.
You can read it as a literal ghost story or you can read it as an allegory of how a killing plays on a killer's mind, driving him into making mistakes and betraying himself.
Very nicely written. My only reservation is that at around 50 pages in conventional terms, I found it a little too short to mine the full richness of the seam T.S. Sharp has discovered here. I hope he will expand it one day into a full-length novel because there is every scope for him to do so and his writing style and handling of the plot are, well, seamless.Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story OverviewA short story about the grisly work of a hired killer whose work finally catches up with him.Boyd was paid to kill the man and bury his body in a Welsh forest. He'd done it many times before, the job was no different to all the others.Except this time the body won't stay buried. Relentlessly pursued by the ghost of his most recent job, Boyd is forced to question his line of work, until the pressure finally builds to breaking point.~~~~Praise for Unfamiliar Country"Crisp writing and real insight into characterisation, it's all here. The author is a novelist in waiting, that wait will be well worth it." Jake Barton, bestselling author of Burn, Baby, Burn and Blood."If this is a taste of the author's style, then I will look out for any future work he produces. " Declan Conner, author of Survival Instinct (The dark side of dating)."Concise and atmospheric - a real sense of stomach-churning unease..." (Books Monthly)

Shattered (Dream Realms Trilogy, #1) ReviewThis book is *perfect* for the time you just want to get away from it all and be consumed in a magical world and take a romantic adventure. It's light, so don't expect Shakespearean pose or motif-heavy dialogue, and enjoy it for what it's worth: a fun trip into a charming story.
The story stars Laura, a somewhat typical 17 year old girl who's living life day by day, in a small, somewhat mundane town. Nothing exciting ever happens, that is, until a new student comes to school and circumstance dictate that she get to know him! What happens next is the crux of the story, and I won't give it away, but there's a hint of romance, a great deal of danger, exploration into an amazing, magical realm, and more. What's not to like?
Use this book as a 'stop-gap' between some of the heavier reading you do, and you'll greatly enjoy every minute of it!Shattered (Dream Realms Trilogy, #1) OverviewDescription:

Destined (Dream Realms Trilogy, #2) ReviewI reviewed the first book, shattered, and even though i really enjoyed the story, i only gave it four stars. i wished that we got to see more of a background about the characters, and a deeper look into the dream world. well, this book definitely delivers! you can see how miss sharp has progressed as a writer since the first book, and we get more interesting, more detailed looks at the characters. plus, there is the introduction of a few new characters who i absolutely LOVED and can't wait to see more of.
my only complaint, really, is that I can't believe this is only a trilogy. i wish it were longer! it'll be very intersting to see how everything wraps up by the third book.
(PS: even if you has reservations about buying this one after reading shattered, i say GO FOR IT! this really is a better book than the first one)Destined (Dream Realms Trilogy, #2) OverviewDescription:Laura has survived the dark caves, and emerged with Logan by her side. But her escape is quickly tainted as she realizes the biggest danger still lies ahead...She has been transformed, and powers she has never known begin to manifest themselves within her body. As she struggles to gain control, how long will she be able to restrain herself - and her new bloodlust - from taking over?As she journeys onward, doubts begin to creep into her mind. Doubts about leaving home, about the decisions she's made. But with the Vassiz still behind her, there is no turning back, now. And she has questions that need to be answered. Just who are the elders, and why have they taken such a keen interest in her? As she starts the unravel the cloak that shrouds their existence, she begins to understand that she may have stumbled into something much larger than herself... and starts to understand her destiny for the first time. Destined is the second book of the Dream Realms Trilogy, and the direct sequel to Shattered. It is approximately 1.7 times longer than the first book.
