The Sharp Edge of a Knife ReviewThis suspenseful story is amazing. Make sure you have plenty of time to read because once you start you won't want to stop. Sharp Edge of a Knife is based on a true story. It makes me sad to know that something like this can really happen in our world. This story will make you think twice before giving a stranger a ride ever again. Giles has done a great job of telling this story, and it will keep you guessing right until the very end.

Third Strike: A Thriller (Charlie Fox Thriller) ReviewLoved it!! Have got all of Zoe Sharp's Charlie Fox books. Think it was Road Kill that wasn't my personal favorite but it has been a couple of years since I read it. This one Zoe Sharp has got Charlie back on target. This was actually one of those books that had me hooked from page one. Sat down and started it on a Saturday afternoon and had to make myself put it down to go to bed and got up Sunday morning and finished it. Been a long time since I have found a book that made everything else wait until I finished it. I read the Charlie Fox books in order which maybe that is why I liked this one so much, liked the whole more personal aspect with Charlie and her parents and with Sean. Cannot wait for the next one to see what happens with her and Sean.Third Strike: A Thriller (Charlie Fox Thriller) Overview

Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story ReviewDead people are meant to stay dead, right? They aren't meant to come back to haunt their killers, although they probably often do, at least under the guise of conscience.
That is what this 'short' is about - a low key, well-grounded short story set in Wales about what happened after the contract killer fulfilled his contract.
You can read it as a literal ghost story or you can read it as an allegory of how a killing plays on a killer's mind, driving him into making mistakes and betraying himself.
Very nicely written. My only reservation is that at around 50 pages in conventional terms, I found it a little too short to mine the full richness of the seam T.S. Sharp has discovered here. I hope he will expand it one day into a full-length novel because there is every scope for him to do so and his writing style and handling of the plot are, well, seamless.Unfamiliar Country - A Short Story OverviewA short story about the grisly work of a hired killer whose work finally catches up with him.Boyd was paid to kill the man and bury his body in a Welsh forest. He'd done it many times before, the job was no different to all the others.Except this time the body won't stay buried. Relentlessly pursued by the ghost of his most recent job, Boyd is forced to question his line of work, until the pressure finally builds to breaking point.~~~~Praise for Unfamiliar Country"Crisp writing and real insight into characterisation, it's all here. The author is a novelist in waiting, that wait will be well worth it." Jake Barton, bestselling author of Burn, Baby, Burn and Blood."If this is a taste of the author's style, then I will look out for any future work he produces. " Declan Conner, author of Survival Instinct (The dark side of dating)."Concise and atmospheric - a real sense of stomach-churning unease..." (Books Monthly)

Fourth Day. Zo Sharp ReviewOK. So I read each Lee Child Jack Reacher book the moment its in paperback (now moving slowly to Kindle), and I can't get enough Joe Hunter from Matt Hilton either - but, thank goodness there is a similar strong female character from Zoe Sharp. My only complaint? That there not more of the books.Fourth Day. Zo Sharp Overview

GRAVE IMPORTS (The Ray Sharp Novels) ReviewGRAVE IMPORTS kept me up late. Author Eric Stone leads the reader on a thrilling journey to the remote corners of Cambodia, Thailand, and Hong Kong. One can smell the gunpowder, eavesdrop on the cacophony of Chinese dialects, observe the limbless beggars, and taste the sting of pungent chili.
In GRAVE IMPORTS, protagonist Ray Sharp is compelled to investigate a smuggling enterprise that is robbing ancient Cambodian temples of their priceless artifacts. Still recovering from an experience that plagues him with nightmares and occasionally drives him to the bottle, Sharp must confront not only his own demons, but a lawless world of opportunists and manipulators. Though many of the characters are unique and deeply sympathetic, some tread a narrow line between survival and corruption. Sharp can't pass judgment, as the lines he once drew between right and wrong have blurred or moved. I heartily recommend the journey through GRAVE IMPORTS, which will leave you with a racing pulse. It will also have you pondering the clouded moralities of war and enterprise.
GRAVE IMPORTS (The Ray Sharp Novels) OverviewThe second Ray Sharp detective thriller, set in Asia and based on true stories. Is it possible to smuggle the soul of an entire country?Just another due diligence job, checking out a Chinese art supplies company. Simple. Ray Sharp knows he could do with a little simplicity - his life has been far too muddy lately. He needs a chance to gather his thoughts and repair his heart. But digging around in a company's back-room business proves to be a dark, dusty, dangerous affair...Beautiful, tempting women, locked away in crates. Smiling serene smiles, cocking their hips suggestively, the apsaras are the heavens' dancing girls, carved into stone. These precious relics are being chipped away from the already crumbling walls of Cambodia's ancient temples. Stolen and smuggled by erudite killers eager to finance their bloody wars. What can one man hope to achieve in the face of such callous disregard for a country, its history, and its people?"What starts as a fast-paced thriller turns into a deeper social novel concerned with poverty, slavery, and the best and worst of the human condition. This will appeal to fans of John Burdett and Colin Cotterill, as well as patrons who enjoy exotic Asian settings and a mystery plot with some substance." - Library Journal, starred review."A complacent reader will not get the full affect of books such as Grave Imports. It is a mystery/thriller but it is also a commentary on the modern world, its foibles and its fancies. The world seen through Ray Sharp's eyes is not a pretty world, it is not nice, but it has heart and hope. The story starts with a statue of heads, it ends in a temple of a head-a fitting symbol of this thriller for the thinking man." -Front Street Reviews"The exotic and dangerous East comes to vibrant life in Grave Imports by Eric Stone. Bristling with fascinating details about culture, customs, and history, the story hurls the reader on a violent journey into the dark underworld of illicit art transportation and sales. Relax into your favorite easy chair. You're in for a wild and riveting ride." -Gayle Lynds

Killer Instinct (Charlie Fox Series) ReviewIf you like US female PIs (VI Warshawski, Kinsey Millhone) then you'll like Charlie Fox.
Charlie is tough. She teaches women's self-defence (which she took up after being raped in the army), rides a motorbike and is very independent.
The book starts with Charlie's friend Clare being attacked during karaoke night at a local nightclub by reigning champion Susie Hollins. Charlie deals with the attack and is offered a job as a bouncer by the clubs owner. Hours later Susie Hollins is found dead - the latest victim of a homicidal rapist that has been terrorising the local community. Charlie suspects a link between the nightclub and the homicidal rapist and she begins to investigate.
The book moves along at a cracking pace and Charlie is a believable tough heroine. The identity of the killer may be obvious in a plot that has been used many times before, but Charlie is interesting enough to carry you through.Killer Instinct (Charlie Fox Series) Overview

They remind me of modrn day Hardy boys and the old Bobsy Twins (since they are twins)I am 65 years old a a fan of Jack Higgins. I read it to be sure it was OK for my 12 year old granddaughter. Sharp Objects: A Novel ReviewSummary, no spoilers.
This is the story of Camille Preaker, who works as a reporter for a newspaper in Chicago. She has been assigned to cover the story of a possible child serial killer in a small town in Missouri. She was given this story mainly because this small town happens to be her hometown.
We know that Camille is a physically beautiful, but very troubled young woman. We know that she does not want to go home, and throughout the course of this disturbing novel we find out why.
I found this to be a very interesting story, and a page-turner which is high compliment. This book does an excellent job of showing the repercussions of child abuse, and what life is like in a small town.
The only reason this book did not get 5 stars is the mystery aspect. I cannot say more without a spoiler, but I found that part of the resolution improbable for a variety of reasons.
Still, this is a suspenseful, *different* book, and I think that the character of Camille Preaker will stay with me for a long time. I would definitely give Gillian Flynn another try.Sharp Objects: A Novel Overview
